Barista Prima Italian Roast

As promised I am tasting the four (4) Barista Prima line of K Cup coffees for you. I did report on the French Roast at the last posting and here is my take on the Italian Roast opportunity -- WOW -- Great coffee with a WOW factor at first taste and leaves you craving for more. It is full bodied, strong, and yet smooth to the palate, and has a wonderful aroma which we coffee drinkers crave.

The negative: PRICE

They are more expensive than the run of the mill coffees you have enjoyed. They do not seem to be available at the secondary suppliers ie - Bigcatcoffees, coffeeforless, 11th street coffee etc ... you can get them through Kuerig.com and Greenmountaincoffee.com. I have seen them on these sites for about .75 cents per cup which is high. I also saw them on Amazon.com but at a price of $1.16 per cup. The best price I believe is through Bed, Bath and Beyond with their monthly discount coupon which comes out at a fair price of .66 cents per cup. For some this may not be worth it but for me a solid yes! Remember going to a Starbucks or Pete's will cost you alot more.

So to wrap this up - I vote YES for the two Barista Prima's that I have tried and will let you know when I try the other two. Let me and other blog members know what you think.

First - Happy May to everyone - it has been a while since I last posted but other than welcoming Gus to our world everything else pales.

I do have some great news for my readers. I have discovered a new full bodied great tasting K Cup. Barista Prima Coffeehouse "French Roast" maybe the best K Cup coffee I have tasted. From the finest Arabica beans it reveals its' full flavored complexity. It is a wonderfully dark, smoky-sweet brew with a wonderful complete after taste wanting to crave more.

Beside the French Roast there are three other blends that I will be trying and will report back to you. However on a scale of one to ten - the Barista Prima Coffeehouse French Roast is a solid 8 1/2 to a 9. Still waiting for the perfect 10.

However - the only downside - it is anywhere from 84 cents a cup to 97 cents a cup depending where you go. I would recommend waiting for discount offers you get with Bed, Bath, and Beyond and purchase there. You can also go to Green Mountain Roasters and get it there, but make sure you buy enough to qualify for free shipping.

Big News

Major break through news this morning as witnessed by the posting below but to save you all time in your busy day - Here is the news - Starbucks will start producing K Cup coffee with an agreement with Green Mountain. It does not say which blends will be produced but here we go. Now will Pete's follow suit -- Stay tuned

Pete's Coffee K Cup ???

There has been a recent runup of the stock price of Pete's Coffee due to speculation that they may again try to get into the K Cup coffee enviornment. You may remember they made a run at Detrich Coffee but lost that battle. They would be welcome member to the K Cup industry and I hope they succeed as they are a major producer of good quality bold coffee. Stay tuned

Grove Square Coffee

I have discovered in my research a new manufacturer of K Cups - Grove Square Coffees. GSC is now available through many of the discount and mass disribution establishments at a low introductory price. Amazon and Ebay to name two. I could not find, in fact, who produces this brand. In a few cases the reviews have indicated this coffee to be nothing more than "instant coffee" in a K Cup.

If anyone has the desire or finds any more information a "post" would be appreciated.

I Phone App

While doing research for you on the state of K Cups I discovered there is an I phone App for you regarding K Cups. You can find it under K-Cupboard in the Apple App Store and does cost .99 cents. It does seem pretty good with a search by Brand Name or by Coffee type. It is a complete list with descriptions for each of the many choices that we have. It is a good reference and for some maybe worth the investment of .99 cents.

I am not aware if the application is available on the Droid, Blackberry, or other smart phone devices other than the I phone.

Green Mountain K Cup Coffee

First let me wish all my loyal blog followers a very Happy New Year. I trust that all is well and that each day you continue to enjoy your mornings with a fresh cup of coffee of your choice.

I thought I would visit an old favorite of mine - Green Mountain Coffee's Dark Magic Magie Noire. I had forgotten of this speciality for many a month. Today I gave it another try and lo and behold it is a full bodied wonderfully tasting coffee. While it is bold it does not overpower the palate yet fulfills the need to live the taste.

These are available at most of your favorite on line sites. I paid $11.57 for twenty four (24) cups through BigCatCoffee.com. Remember when ordering purchase enough to quality for a free package mailing. You can save considerably the cost per cup which unfortunately for us is rising.
