Death Wish Coffee Part II

OK Folks - Since this is my job I have ordered and received and tried a K Cup of coffee from the Death Wish Coffee Company.  My packet of coffee arrived at 12:47 PM today and I am sitting at my blogging post at 1:20 PM having tried my fourth sip of Death Wish Coffee.

Initial reaction - not much - but then forty two seconds later a nice after taste of bold, strong, caffeinated coffee permeated my palate.  Not bitter, not sour, not a weak after taste, but a real good cup of STRONG coffee.

I might even have a little buzz from this coffee which follows a rather substantial lunch of two pulled pork hot dog bun sandwiches.  I cannot dismiss this coffee which I was prepared to do as it really has a nice flavor and a better than average after taste.

The coffee is a very positive YES…

The downside -- and this is important - The packet costs $15.00 through Amazon.com for 10 yes 10 K Cups.  This is by far and away the most expensive K Cup Coffee I have consumed and maybe the most expensive on the market. (I did not research that fact).

Bottom line - for special occasions OK go get it -- For those who enjoy really good strong coffee OK go get it … Just understand you paying more for these than Starbucks for Peet's which also in my view is very expensive.

I think I have included their website URL for you to puruse at your convenience.  Hope this helps and enjoy a good morning K Cup coffee

Peet's Is In the Game

Wow - it has been almost a year since we last enjoyed a "post" from the Kcupcoffeelovers.  Time has flown by but we have major K Cup news as discovered by my eldest daughter..

Sitting down I hope -- Peet's yes Peet's is now in the K Cup Single Coffee Cup environment.  Just brewed a Peet's French Roast K Cup and it is really good.  Bold yet very appealing to the palate and leaves a wonderful after taste that stays with you.  This company has a devoted following so I expect all their K Cup blends to be quite good.

Peet's has the following K Cups for your enjoyment at this time.  Cafe Domingo, French Roast, House Blend and their famous Major Dickason blend.

So now we have Starbucks and Peet's to choose from.  One warning I must be forth at this juncture.  Both are expensive compared to others in this competitive field.  Starbuck's can be around .85 a cup and my purchase today from a Peet's store was very close to $1.00 a cup.  In fact, the barista at Peet's was proud of that fact.  If you want quality apparently you have to pay for it...

I also recently purchased in my travels about the bay a "Snapple Peach Iced Tea" K Cup.  I did not know they were in this environment.  I did try it and discovered it to be quite refreshing but a bit sweet for my liking.  The package indicates a 50 calorie count per serving.  I don't if that is high or not.  Just be forewarned.

The choices we now have are almost limitless so when you have time I might suggest the following web sites for you to explore.  Remember when you buy on line sometimes you can avoid delivery charge and sales tax.  However if you want Starbucks, Van Houtte, and now Peet's you may have to go to them directly.

www.Kuerig.com
www.11thstreetcoffee.com
www.amazon.com
www.coffeeforless.com
www.greatcoffee.com
www.greenmountain.com

There are many other sites so when you get time just google K Cup and your horizons will expand..

As always here is to a good cup of morning coffee ....

Kuerig's New Single Coffee System

Below you will find a link to the new Kuerig Single Coffee System "Vue" system. I have not tried it but at BB and Beyond today I did see a video presentation. The system appears to operate in the same manner yet the "Vue" cups are smaller and will not, let me repeat, will not work in your current system. They do have a variety of the same choices that we now all enjoy. The price point for the machine is higher than what we have enjoyed with our current machines. I do not believe that Kuerig is trying to faze out the current K Cup system but stay tuned. Also be aware the I had read that Starbucks was producing their own one cup system.

Just be careful when purchasing your K Cup supply you do inadvertently buy the Vue system cups.

Here is the link and enjoy the video and each morning enjoy a good K Cup coffee.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND NEW YEAR

First let me say to all who read and rely on my blog - a very Happy Holiday and New Year to you all. I trust that 2011 was a good year and looking forward we hope that 2012 will be even better. No political statement here.

I would like to relate a quick Kuerig story. Lo and behold that after five cups a day for seven days (35 Cups per week), for fifty two (52) weeks we, the Mrs and I, have gone through 1820 K cups per year for three years totalling 5460 K Cups of good and varying coffees. One cold recent morning, however, our B60 Special Kuerig machine, decided enough was enough and ceased to generate that good morning brew.

Out to a brick and mortar store and for $149.00 I brought a brand new edition home. However, an avid follower of my blog suggested we call Kuerig directly. Alas, we did and they could not have been nicer and more accommodating to our needs and after a few moments we purchased the same machine for $99.97. Off to the aforementioned brick and mortar store for my refund. In addition, I have heard that the Kuerig people have sent new machines to those who have registered with them and found a problem Kuerig replaced their at no charge.

Nice way to end the year with a new machine. morning warmth with a fire place blazing, reading the local newspaper, and sipping wonderful new K Cup coffees (Starbucks). Life does not get much better,

Again Happy Holidays to all and stay tuned for good Kuerig K Cup information in 2012.

Here is to a good cup of morning coffee.

Starbucks K Cup French Roast

I quickly mentioned to you all this week about Starbuck's entry into the K Cup environment. Today I went to my local Starbuck's store to buy some of these coffees. Lo and behold not to be found but was sent to my local Safeway. Coincidentally there is a Starbuck's kiosk inside. The barrista had no idea what I was talking about so I took upon myself to go to the coffee section of the store. There right in front of me were boxes of Starbuck's K Cup coffees. That was the good news. Pricey, Pricey, Pricey. They sell a ten (10) pack box for $8.99 which I believe comes to $.89 per cup which is more expensive than any K Cup that I have purchased. However, I did this for you all. I bought one box of the French Roast and good news! -- It is a full bodied, rich, bold coffee similar in taste to their French Roast bean drip coffee. In fact, maybe even bolder. I am enjoying a cup currently as I write this edition of my blog. Go out try one brand and see what you think. I believe prices should drop somewhat as their distribution chain increases. I am told they will be available in Starbuck's stores sometime in the first quarter of 2012.

Anyway enjoy your coffee and all the best to you all.

Barista Prima - Colombia

I have not been a frequent consumer of Colombian coffee as a regular faire. I find the taste bitter and the after taste overwhelming. However, I have recently tried Barista Prima's Colombian coffee and found this to be a very good cup of bold coffee. The taste is quite strong with a mild after taste that is appealing to the palate. I would strongly recommend you might try this fourth entry of Barista Prima's array of K Cup coffees. Below you will find their description of this Colombia coffee.

Roast Profile

There is magic in the Andes. A potent energy that imbues the coffee nurtured there with near-mythic flavor. These highly prized Arabica beans, cultivated at high elevation on small farms shadowed by Colombia's majestic mountains, are a testament to the volcanic soils from which they grow.

Each deep-roasted cup possesses a sweet, full-bodied finish that perfectly reflects Colombia's proud coffee-growing tradition.

The coffee is expensive in the K Cup choice of coffees but if you go to Bed, Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon you will do well. In fact, I found them to be cheaper for this and other coffees compared to the normal on line retailers of K Cups.

Enjoy this and here is to a good cup of morning coffee.
